Current Projects 〰️
A look behind the scenes at the stories I'm writing today.
Every story begins with an idea. Explore the writing projects I'm currently working on, from my debut historical fiction trilogy and future works inspired by Scotland's rich history and remarkable landscapes.
My Debut Trilogy That Witch That Never Burnt.
The inspiration for this trilogy began with a quote I came across:
"We are the granddaughters of the witches you never burnt."
It led me to ask a simple question: what if one of those accused of witchcraft had survived, how would they feel?
That question became the foundation of The Witch That Never Burnt, a trilogy set in Scotland in 1662 during the Scottish witch trials. Through the eyes of both the accused and the hunter, the story explores fear, justice, survival and the lasting impact of accusation.
Inspired by real places, historical research and Scotland's remarkable past, this trilogy gives a voice to those whose stories history almost forgot.
Book One
Set in Scotland in 1662, Book One follows Ava, a young woman whose life is turned upside down when she is accused of witchcraft. Through her eyes, the story explores fear, resilience, family, and the devastating impact of the Scottish witch trials on ordinary people.
Book Two
Book Two tells the story from Barnabas's perspective. From his childhood to becoming a witch hunter, it explores the events that shaped the man entrusted with escorting Ava south to Edinburgh. His journey north reveals the personal struggles, loyalties and beliefs that define him, challenging both the hunter and the hunted.
Book Three
The final book explores the aftermath of Ava's capture. As lives are forever changed, the consequences of accusation, justice and survival continue to unfold. It is a story of legacy, healing and the enduring impact of the Scottish witch trials on individuals, families and communities.
A Recipe for a Good Death
A community writing project
Inspired by the way treasured family recipes are passed from one generation to the next, this project asks a simple question: if we can leave behind a recipe for our favourite meal, why not leave behind a recipe for a good death?
Working with a local coastal community group, this project invites people to reflect on what truly matters at the end of life. Rather than ingredients for a meal, each "recipe" is made from the values, memories, wishes and acts of kindness that help us live well, say goodbye with dignity, and leave something meaningful behind for those we love.
It is a project about life, legacy and the stories we leave with the people who matter most.
Stories are always evolving, and so is this page. Check back each month for updates on my latest writing projects, research adventures and works in progress.
